Recognising that everyone has their preferred means of communicating with other people over the net, Goldchat Internet Community provides a variety of chat options. Besides the standard Java-based chat rooms, the site offers voice chat, message boards and visual chat, which enables you to talk against a fancy backdrop of your choice. While it isn't the busiest or best-designed chat service available, Goldchat is certainly very friendly, with a real community spirit. It's also relatively free of the inane and rude conversation you find elsewhere on the web, and is very straightforward to use.
